My thoughts on LEADERSHIP

There's a huge line between a leader and a dictator. Well, of course one can decide to be a dictator kind of leader, or a good leader. Of course one often describe a good leader as someone who's flexible and kind towards people under their command, which also often ended up being used and back-stabbed by the followers. However, today I'm not going to post about types of leader, categories of leader or.... anything that sounds like leaders group types.

What I wanna babble about this evening are things that makes one a leader. One of the main ingredient that makes one fit to be a leader is the confidence within him/her. I always think that those who were born with leadership confidence are really gifted people because not everybody posses such confidence. Most people, such as myself needs field experience to actually gain the leadership confidence.

There is one leadership quote, "Best leaders are great followers". I think this quote is definitely true, because if you can't manage to follow your leader well, it is almost impossible for you to be the the next leader in line. Take this example, how do you expect to be a professional Mathematics teacher if you didn't even pay attention to your own Mathematics lesson at school?

By following your leader, you should be able learn few things from them. Few things you can learn by following are courage, self control, justice, decision making, plans priority, obedience, understanding and willingness to bear the responsibilities. Indirectly, by being a good follower you will help your leader to become a good leader. By following the directions given at your optimum ability, you could at least get your leader to obtain a "well done" star for your group performance. Your inability to follow will reflect your inability to lead as well.

Another leadership quote is, "Leadership is not a position. It's an action!" Take that you're a boss of a business company and you happen to hire a secretary that has better field experiences and knowledge in financial and business management. For sure you will rely to your secretary's advices regarding to your company's demand to success. If the secretary's advices are able to bring your company up to the top of it's success peak, major credits should go to your secretary instead of you, although you were the one responsible for your secretary's recruitment on the first place.

As a follower, ideas contributions are significant in a team work in order for the team to shine as a successful team. If your leader happen to be someone who doesn't accept others idea than his/her own, don't blame yourself cause he/she's the bad leader. As a leader, one should hear their follower's thoughts out and take their ideas under their consideration or at least put it in a KIV list.

If you are the worst follower any leaders fear to accept, never ever expect other people to be good followers under your lead. Why? Because it's just ridiculous!
