Sabahan women, easy prey for trickster.. T_T

Since the day I finished schooling, I have read numerous news about Sabahan women being tricked by conman through social websites, phone calls and emails. I was once almost tricked and I've made a post about it here.

Almost all the tricked victims are women in their late 20s, 30s and 40s; that includes widowed, single moms, married, rich and poor; and also almost all of the trickster/scammer/conman are Nigerian in cooperation with at least a local Malaysian. Most trickster uses false social website account profile featuring photos of a handsome man from Europe or America. I assume that these tricksters love fishing so much, that they don't mind waiting or chatting with their victims up to 9 months or more just to convince them and dig their money.

Another popular tricking method is via email scams and phone calls. They usually hacked into someone's account and then send emails asking to borrow a large sum of money to the people from the hacked account address book. Another method of email scams is by simply send a Loterry Winning email to random people and wait for any response. Phone calls tricksters will call anyone and tell them that their sim card has won a lucky draw or something, then they will ask for bank account number "to deposit the cheque" when they actually will suck your money out.

The greatest amount of money tricked out from a woman so far is RM600K *if I'm not mistaken*, and that woman is a widow. Of course the conman didn't took the 600K all at once, instead he took it little by little. He said that he was gonna come to Malaysia all the way over from the UK, but he needed money to manage his passports and visa. This woman felt very responsible for making the guy come to her so she supported him financially. The climax of this story was that guy finally arrived but got himself in Custom custody at the airport, so he needed more money to bailed himself out. Again this woman gave him money after that guy called and sent a delivery boy over to her house to pick the money up. Total lost? RM600K.

It's sad to know that my own fellow sumandak is being labeled shallow and stupid. Please make a change and don't be an easy prey to these heartless trickster. Whatever happened to the "Don't talk to strangers" advice you used to raised your children with? Perhaps you should take your own advice, because it's the mothers who falls easily to the conman... not the children.

This is a warning to everyone out there. We have to think "sensibly" of any offer from anyone especially concerning money. I ever got emails from certain people who claimed that they were to inherit millions of dollars but needed the help of someone's account to "keep" part of the money. Who would believe that? It's so unreasonable!! This is an example of the tricks and we have to be aware of it. I'm not the type who could be so easily believing such nonsense.

Think many times before we act. Thanks for the post.
